Personality:Belgium is a very soft spoken girl with a good heart. She cares a lot about her older brother, and she wants what's best for everyone. She's very polite, friendly and understanding. Although her personality is so gentle, Belgium is not shy at all. Just like any other nation she enjoys having fun, such as drinking beer on occasions. Even though Belgium is not very shy, that doesn't mean she isn't modest. Being indecent or exposing herself in a sexual way is embarrassing for her, and she will refuse. Belgium is much taller than the other female nations , possibly even taller than some of the males. She usually wears a uniform which makes her look a bit like a tomboy, which may possibly true, being raised by a brother. In her hair, she usually wears a ribbon and a flower to go with it. She considers herself to be plain, and ordinary compared to the other nations. Perhaps calm and uneventful, since all she wants is the other nations to get along so well. This may be why they all like her so much because of her relaxed personality.


She is a lot like a mother figure in so many ways to Romano, she thinks he's very cute and loves to fuss over him. It annoys him and he gets flustered when she praises him, except when he was a baby and Belgium almost kissed him. To Netherlands she's his cheerful little sister who Belgium spends most of her time being around. Belgium is very lovable to the other nations that she cares about and shows her affection through kindness. Belgium has a strong sweet tooth, and is known for her favorite snacks of all time. Chocolate and waffles, she is also known for her delicious beer and alcoholic beverages. Since she is so used to her own waffles, when she tries them from other countries. They taste gross to her.



When under a large amount of stress, Belgium may be a bit grumpy or act aggravated. She wouldn't do anything to hurt anyone's feelings, but her mood may change to sour. Under an enormous amount of stress, she may even become depressed and needy. She is used to getting help from her big brother Netherlands and help from Spain, without their help she may have difficulty during a crisis, although, Belgium is a very hard worker and tries her best to make things perfect. Sometimes she can be a bit of a perfectionist or considered a professional, but that all comes with the hard work she puts time into. It's a possibility that Belgium is slightly naive, such as inviting both Spain and Netherlands to have lunch with her, when they both hate one another. Although her brother is greedy with his money, she doesn't want to see him as something bad or a miser. Belgium is too kind to think bad things about someone she cares so much about.

Her fears and anxieties are if Netherlands was to leave her, or just being alone in general. Although Belgium is a stable nation, she is afraid of solitude as any other human would be. Usually she is confident and doesn't worry very much, perhaps a bit care-free in the most harmless way possible. Her personality is bright and sunny, and she has a weakness for adorable things and young children. Belgium is quick to make friends and trusts easily, but when she realizes someone is not a nice person she will be wary of them and won't let her guard down.


Belgium is one of the more diverse and multicultural countries in Europe, divided into three distinct regions with a number of different communities that all speak their own respective languages. There's Brussels, Flanders and Wallonia, each of which have a bias towards a certain language. Belgium herself is multilingual, fluent in Dutch, French, German and English. Due to the intense variety within the bounds of her country, it's somewhat obvious that there is constant conflict within her country limits. The French community and the Flemish community are known to dislike each other, and Belgium often grows quite tired of trying to get her people to get along.

While the French speaking regions feel somewhat superior to the Flemish regions, the actual French look down upon the French Belgians. This is because when Belgium speaks French, she sounds like an old lady and France finds it to be obnoxious, not to mention she speaks terribly slowly and has a strange accent, and tends to confuse pouvoir with savoir, which irritates France to no end.
